Evan Demas has a strongly
material practice that explores the tension between intuitive and
rational processes. Bodily interaction is contrasted with
industrially processed materials. The created textures, folds,
shadows, lines, creases and voids result in highly expressive and
dramatic works where the intention is to allude to a liminal or
transmutative state, in which there can be no definitive patterns
in natural or cultural systems, only presumptions in an orderly
chaos.
